With the clear success of the UNICO, a 4 channel combo amplifier designed for acoustic instruments, Schertler has designed the SIDE as a companion active speaker to complete a two speaker sound system, using the same high quality components and circuitry. A pair of Sides also makes a superb sound system for clarity and for a natural acoustic sound.
The SIDE, like the UNICO, is driven by two power amps, delivering 150 Watts RMS to the 8" woofer and 35 watts RMS to the 1" dome tweeter. From inputs to loudspeakers, all components of the Side were selected for their natural and accurate response. The results are velvety, clear harmonics with a controlled, strong low end (down to 40 Hz). Schertler's biamplifier technology produces a very transparent sound with maximum efficiency by properly matching amplifiers to loudspeakers.
Each power amplifier features limiter circuitry for speaker protection. Amplifiers are built with bi-polar transisters (no MOS-FET's), and are powered by a robust, traditional power supply (toroidal transformer).
